Dr Mario Marrone has a private practice in psychotherapy in London. He also does consultations, supervisory work and has been involved in teaching activities in Spain. He speaks English, Italian and Spanish.

Dr. Marrone qualified as a medical doctor at the University of Rosario, Argentina (1973). He holds a Diploma in Psychiatry (Medical College of the Santa Fe Province, Argentina, 1976). He trained in group analysis at the Institute of Group Analysis and in psychoanalysis at the Institute of Psycho-Analysis (London). He has also trained in psychodrama/

Dr Marrone has had clinical supervision with a number of senior psychoanalysts, including Martin Miller, Patrick Casement, Pearl King and John Bowlby. He studied attachment theory with John Bowlby over a period of ten years.

He was a full time hospital psychiatrist and psychotherapist in the National Health Service (United Kingdom) between 1977 and 1991, where he gained extensive experience in the fields of neurosis, psychosis, personality disorders, puerperal depression, family crisis intervention, fostering and adoption, transcultural psychiatry, forensic psychiatry, trauma, assessment of suitability for psychotherapy and psychotherapy with severely disturbed young patients.

He is an Associate Member of the British Psychoanalytic Society, the International Psychoanalytical Association and the Group of Independent Psychoanalysts. He is a member of the Institute of Group Analysis (London). He has been clinical supervisor with CAPP (Centre for Attachment-based Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, London).

Dr Marrone has been a member of the Board of Directors of the International Association of Group Psychotherapy, Chairman of the Scientific Programme Committee and member of the Curriculum Committee of the Institute of Group Analysis and Chairman of the Clinic Section of the London Centre for Psychotherapy. He has also been Secretary of the Benevolent Fund of the British Psycho-Analytical Society.

He is a founder member and past Chairman of the International Attachment Network and co-founder  of the Journal Attachment and Human Development

He has published many papers and book chapters in Italian, Spanish and English, as well as the book "Attachment and Interaction" (London: Jessica Kingsley, 1998). The Italian version has been published as "Attaccamento e Interazione" (Roma: Borla, 1999). He has also published in Spanish "La Teoría del Apego: Un Enfoque Actual" (Madrid: Psimática, 2001, 2009).

He has also edited, together with Mauricio Cortina (Washington) the book "Attachment Theory and the Psychoanalytic Process" (London: Whurr, 2003) and co-authored with Dr. Nicola Diamond the book "Attachment and Intersubjectivity" (London: Whurr, 2003).

Dr Marrone has kept active international and university links. He has been an associate teacher, visiting lecturer and external examiner with several universities in the United Kingdom and other countries. He has lectured in Buenos Aires, Mar del Plata, Mendoza, Rosario and San Luis (Argentina), Montevideo (Uruguay), Los Angeles and New York (USA), Odense and Copenhagen (Denmark), Milan and Bologna (Italy), Maastricht (Nederland), Barcelona, Bilbao, Madrid, Murcia, Palma de Mallorca, San Sebastian, Santander, Seville and Vitoria (Spain) and in Stockholm (Sweden), on psychopathology, psychoanalytic theory, diagnostic procedures, mental health promotion, group analysis and attachment theory.

He has also been a member of the Experts' Committee on Mental Promotion for Children Aged 0-to 6 (Brussels) set up by the European Commission in association with Mental Health Europe.
